This policy explains what Yarely (the "app") and its companion web dashboard at yarely.app collect, why, and your choices. Yarely is a recreational navigation aid and is not for use as a primary means of navigation.
What we collect
- Location. The app uses your device location to show your position, speed and course, tides and weather nearby, anchor-watch and man-overboard features. Location is processed on your device. It leaves the device only if you sign in to the web companion and turn on “Share Live Position”, in which case recent fixes are stored in your companion account so you can see them in a browser.
- Your navigation data. Waypoints, routes, trip logs and marina notes you create. These stay on your device unless you sign in to the web companion, which syncs them to your account so you can view them online.
- Account identity. If you use the web companion you sign in using a secure single sign-on. We receive a stable anonymous identifier and, only if you allow it, your email address. We do not receive your name or your password.
- Subscription status. Purchases are handled by the app store’s payment system. We receive a signed confirmation of whether your subscription is active (and its plan and renewal date) so we can unlock the web companion. We never receive your payment card or full account details.
How we use it
- To provide navigation, tide, weather and safety features in the app.
- To sync your data to, and display it in, the web companion when you sign in.
- To determine whether your subscription entitles you to the web companion.
- To respond to messages you send us through the contact form.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third-party services
To deliver some features we rely on a small number of third-party service providers — for example weather and tide forecasts, map and points-of-interest data, optional live vessel-traffic data, sign-in, and subscription and payment processing. Each provider receives only the information needed to perform its function and handles it under its own privacy terms.
Storage & retention
Synced data is stored securely by our companion service. Position history is limited to your most recent fixes. Data remains until you delete it or delete your account.
Your choices
- You can use the app without creating a web-companion account; your data then stays on your device.
- You can turn off live-position sharing at any time in the app’s settings.
- You can delete your companion account and all server-side data from the app (Settings → Web Companion → Delete Account).
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device’s account settings.
Children
Yarely is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
